OIL SPILL CLEANUP

Preventative Measures:

• use funnels, spigots to pour oil

• regular preventative maintenance on seals, gaskets and dispensers

• Use spill containment and cleanup materials

• training in spill containment

In event of a spill:

• plug nearby drains immediately when a spill occurs

• vacuum or pour spilled oil into drums

• sorbent materials used to soak up and contain oil spills

• store sorbent materials away from other materials; only use these for oil spills

• oil sorbents are to be burned or laundered

• report spills to local authorities on oil spills
