Authentic-feeling Afghani restaurant with fabulous food and lots of vegetarian options. Many low tables with cushions for seats. Nice atmosphere. Interesting menu. Seemed fairly busy, so reservations would probably be a good idea.
I really like the pancake breakfast special. Actually I haven't really enjoyed dinners here all that much, though it's not bad. Definately would recommend the breakfast though. All vegetarian, all the time.
Very good deal on lunch specials (includes tea, soup, rice, and an entree - with multiple people (and multiple dishes), this is a tasty and filling meal for $5.95. Ginger beef and Mongolian beef are my favorite dishes. Somewhat spicy.
Best Thai food in town! Kup kun ka!
I had the best Palak Paneer ever here. And the other things we tried were tasty too. Haven't been back again yet, but I would certainly like to. Option to eat on a patio overlooking 4th ave. This one is tucked away upstairs and might be hard to find.
Get a coupon from the Georgia Straight or an entertainment book and head here for some tasty Indian food. Often 2-for-1 coupons available.
So I have to include the Thorn Tree because I worked there, and it was a nice little spot. David makes some pretty darned tasty food, and it has a nice atmosphere. Just don't ask me to make you a latte!
It may not be open much, and I've only been there once, but this little place has some mighty good Mexican food, if you're in the mood for that sort of thing. Good place to sample mole - yes, that's chocolate in your dinner!
Absolutely deeelicious greek food. The platters are excellent. Beware, those candies afterwards are not mint but licorice!
Classy joint but not crazy expensive. Very tasty seafood dishes.
This sushi restaurant is completely different to any other one I have been to. Everything is just so FRESH. Even the pickled ginger isn't that sickly pink stuff - here it is a more natural colour. As is the wasabi. Definately worth trying, but don't expect all-you-can-eat.
This is where my ulti team, Second Breakfast, is to be found from 1:30-3 just about every Sunday. Very good brunch menu and the lunch food is good too. Even though it's not on the menu, you can order "Cuban Hash", which is a favorite filling breakfast meal consisting of eggs, hashbrowns, sausages, and various other things fried up and heaped onto a plate. Orange Juice is a bit of a rip-off though! :)
