Subject: [ork!] portugal!

um, yup, this is brenda reporting from portugal.

got sick of the rain in belgium, so i decided to....check out what
portugal looks like with rain.. (apparently i brought the rain with me)

actually i had a month off between exams. most belgian people go home, or
actually I think a more common theme is to go to their grandparents house,
or to farms taht hve cows (i really wish i got to go to farms with cows to
study for exams. that is my dream). so since no one would be around, i
decided to check out portugal before my exam.. and then kat can come out
to belgium sooner, and we can go camping!

so i decided all this last wednesday, and well i had a heck of a time. i
got my plane tickets to portugal switched friday (i already had the
ticket, just not the right date). i had to deal with a tram that
mysteriously disapperaed then a woman that fainted on the tram, arriving
minutes before the travel stop closed. saturday, i called to reserve a
spot on the bus for london. apparently the only one i could take to make
my tuesday flight was 9:30am the next day...so there was an exciting day
of packing, etc. the day before i was to leave. sunday was spent on my way
to london, where i completely forgot that people drove on the wrong side
of the road there.

but i made it an di found my brotheršs friend steve who was super nice,
and let me stay with him 2 nights since it was clsoe enough to the
airport.. (my cousin was a bit to far for an 8am flight)

in london, i checked out the natural history museum which was free.. it
was super cool museum, with lots of almost artistic views of sciency
things.

i also checked out the piccadily circus at night, where they had people
dancing on roller skates, as well as some crazy old man dancing. (coming
soon to my website), as well as other people playing weird instruments or
tap dancing,etc.

tuesday morning i woke up super early but apparently not early enough. i
didnšt realize how short of time i was til i got on the plane and realized
i did not actually ever sit down and wait i pretty much just got on the
plane in time! oh well, it was all good, especially since i did not get
stuck with any sort of kosher meal.

and voila! i am here: i am so impressed with kats portugese!! the langauge
is nothing at all like french, adn even italian sounds closer... it sounds
cool though :)

and katie has a super cool toilet i am not sure why it hasn't been
mentioned before. it's a turning knob thing! and its pink!

and of course, the cat named meow-in-portugese (niao?) that is often
lounging on kat's bed is no surprise :)

that is my weekend update!
